Chris Hines, MIEC

With over 20 years in the electrical contracting industry, Chris Hines brings a wealth of experience in managing complex, large-scale electrical projects across commercial, industrial, and public sector environments. His strengths lie in project leadership, client liaison, and delivering high-quality, compliant installations that meet demanding technical and operational requirements.

Chris holds advanced qualifications in electrical installation and inspection, and has extensive experience working on high-security and time-sensitive projects, including government buildings and transport infrastructure. His deep understanding of BS7671 regulations and commitment to best practice ensures every project is delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest professional standards.

As a long-standing NIC EIC Qualified Supervisor and member of the Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET), Chris plays a key role in maintaining the company’s technical excellence and regulatory compliance. He is also a strong advocate for continuous improvement and innovation, regularly integrating new technologies and smarter working practices into the company’s operations.

Chris is passionate about building long-term client relationships and fostering a culture of accountability and pride within the team. He continues to mentor staff and apprentices, helping to shape the next generation of skilled electricians while steering the business toward sustainable growth and future-ready solutions.

Alan Hopkins, MIEC​

With over 18 years of experience in the electrical contracting industry, Alan Hopkins brings deep technical expertise and leadership to Hines & Hopkins Ltd. His specialisms include electrical design and verification, testing and certification, and health and safety compliance across a wide range of environments—including schools, hospitals, and commercial sites.

Alan holds advanced qualifications in Testing & Inspection (Level 3) and Design & Verification (Level 4), and maintains up-to-date knowledge of the BS7671 18th Edition Wiring Regulations, including amendments for electric vehicle (EV) charging installations. As a NIC EIC Qualified Supervisor and Principal Duty Holder since 2004, he ensures all work meets the highest standards of safety and compliance.

A proud member of the Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET), Alan is passionate about mentoring the next generation of electricians—one of whom went on to win Electrical Apprentice of the Year at Portakabin Ltd under his guidance.

Currently, Alan is leading the company’s expansion into EV charging infrastructure across South-East and East Anglia, while also driving continuous professional development in renewable energy and sustainable building systems for the entire team.
